Friends of Silver River State Park Host Annual "Phantoms in the Forest"
The Friends of Silver River State Park, Inc. is sponsoring "Phantoms in the Forest" on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 at 7 Pm at Silver River State Park. Presented by members of the local storytelling group, the Ocali Storytelling Guild, it will be an evening of spooky tales for all ages. Stories will be told from the front porch of the Godwin House in the Cracker Village. Jack O'lanterns and mysterious sounds from the woods add to the Halloween atmosphere. Cider, cookies and other baked goods will be available for sale. There will be a sign language interpreter for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. As in previous years, stories begin as not-so-spooky-at-all for the younger members of the audience and get more chill-worthy as the night goes on. This is the sixth year for this event and each year it is very well-received. Come early for the best seating. Bring a lawn chair or blanket as other seating is very limited. A sweater and/or bug spray may be useful depending on the weather. Park admission is free during the event. Admission to the event is with a canned food doantion. For more details call the park at 352-236-7148.
Thank you to everyone who came out and braved the cold...you made it a great night!
